This Wednesday, we got exciting news from our adoption agency. In just one phone call, our whole world felt like it changed, when our adoption coordinator, Cyndi, told us that she had a child for us, a two-month-old baby girl.
After reviewing her medical records with two physicians we know, we accepted the "referral" yesterday, so that next week, the process will begin in the courts in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to bring home our baby-to-be.
She is just two months old and has been in our agency’s care in Makele, Ethiopia for a little over a month. We do not have an exact birth date on her, which means that her mother most likely died during child birth, or she was found abandoned. She was brought into our agency’s care by Ethiopia’s Social Affairs (their social services). We will most likely choose a December birth date for her.
Because things have slowed down due to increasing numbers of adoptions in Ethiopia, it will be 12-17 weeks before we travel. This was a little disappointing but now will allow us to prepare for the baby and plan for the trip to Ethiopia. For the adoption, we will need to be in the country about 7 days, but we hope to go a little earlier to visit some places we didn’t get to see when living there and possibly make a stop in the town where she is from.
Please join us as we pray that everything continues smoothly with the adoption process. We pray especially for the baby, that she is kept safe and healthy and lovingly cared for by our agency’s foster care program.
We can’t wait to meet her in several weeks time!

Just wnated to let you guys know that I am rejoicing with you and that I've been praying for your little girl just the way you requested. May she be safe and nurtured until you can hold her in your arms!
yay!!! This is so exciting! I am so happy for you two- you will be amazing parents. Can't wait to meet your baby girl!
Congratulations! We are so excited for y'all :) We just found this blog and felt God led us here. We have just decided to adopt after many months of serious thoughts/prayers. It gives me lots of hope that we can make it thru the rigorous paperwork and can, one day, finally hold our baby in our arms. Thanks!
