A Prayer for Haiti

A prayer I originally wrote using Psalm 65:5-13 for the tsunami victims years ago. When we are at a loss, the only posture is on our knees. Join me in praying for Haiti:

May you answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior,
the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas,
who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength.
Who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations.
I pray that those living far away in Hait who were devastated by the earthquake will see your wonders. Where morning dawns and evening fades in the cities scattered across this distant nation, and in the hearts of those who mourn the loss of a loved one and a livelihood, may you call forth songs of joy.
I pray that your faithfulness might be made known as you care for the land and water it; that you would enrich it abundantly; that the streams of God would be filled with water to provide the people of Hait with grain again.
May you make their land ripe for harvest-drenching its furrows; leveling its ridges and softening the earth for new seeds to sprout, bringing blessings from the both the physical to the intagible of love, joy, peace, patience, perseverance, mercy.
May you crown this year with your bounty in Hait, that their carts overflow with abundance; that both the cities and so many hearts now crushed by our earth's cruel blow will be clothed with gladness once again.
May you cover the meadows with flocks and mantle the valleys with grain; restoring joy, instilling hope and forging peace in broken hearts. Amen.
